This is my reworked "cutlass style" originally done in 1994 in East New York Brooklyn. A cutlass is a tool used in the West Indies to down bushes, weeds and all that.

Battybwoys dem commonly known to Americans as a Machete. The thinking behind the piece back in 94 was to do a piece with out arrows. The name "cutlass style" was given to the piece after my old partner Threat saw the sketch. He said the throw-offs looked like cutlasses.

Anyway I remember planning to do this piece with a white outline but threat breaking the cardinal rule of not using some ones outline can, forced me to use American Accents taupe.

For the revamped version, I decided to ditch the multi colored fill-in and use polka dots. I also chose to outline with white and also make the green smile with the brighter leafy green. I tried to make the new letters more energetic while still keeping the same basic letter-forms as best I could. The over all feel to the new piece was to be smooth yet sharp much like a cutlass.
